I saw the Halo at my dealer on Saturday, and although I was already intrigued since the first leaked video it didn’t disappoint at all, knowing that some people do not like it.

I would have a very limited use-case for my BS1, as my other B&O products are too old, but I still want to have one. That it is a great achievement.

There is probably no good rationale explanation why one would spend ca 700$ on a volume remote control. I am now having tough discussions with the FS (wife), as she states ‘you buy Halo I say Hejdå (goodbye) Big Smile

And then my dealer came up with the great idea that I need a Core as well for my BS9000 😀

I love his enthusiasm.

“I have to work on my core” I tell my wife in return Smile

To be continued, and please do see the Halo IRL it is amazingly cool.

I'm afraid that it'll be radio stations only reading the description, just like on the BROne.

Agreed - hence my point, it will be relatively limited at the outset

Other high end brands like Linn have my buttons on their remote that can pin a broad range of content.

I’d expect B&O to do the same, especially for 750 $/£ etc

Lets see how much of an improvement over the Essence it really is

Maybe it is going to be conceptually a "translation" of the B&O app to a physical device. Plus some extra features. I believe it might be a nice user experience. And I like the fact that there is a Siri integration.

It's a remote for new generation products because apparently, it doesn't have IR, what a pity! Impossible to control our Century, BS 9000, BS 8,... Sad

And, does it control Beosound 5? Via WiFi? I only use my Beo4, never used another remote.

Curly:

Word must have gotten out that the test product pages had leaked publically. Everything appears shutdown now. It was a great peek at the Halo and H95, though!

No harm intended, B&O. We’re all just superfans eager to see what’s coming next. :)

On the bright side, I take this as a sign that B&O are monitoring this forum and paying at least some attention to what their biggest fans are seeking in their product line.

2x Beosound Moment
4x Beosound Essence Mk II
3x Beolab 8000
1x Beolab 6000
1x Beolab 3
3x Beolab 2
4x BeoPlay M5
1x BeoPlay A6
9x Essence Remote

As I read it, it could/should be used instead of your phone, that also included music subscriptions,

They did not write which, but only music subscriptions,

Also very positive about the screen, the rumor was that the screen was like the one on Beosound 35,

But this looks bigger, with color and touchscreen.

And it can send to your devices either in wifi or Bluetooth.

Sadly no pictures of the screen on, but I think this product is going to be a bestseller,

And I think this will be B&O definition of a new music system.

Beovision Eclipse, Beolab 5, Beolab 17, Beosound 1 Google assist, Beoplay M3, Beoplay H6, Beoplay Earset

I understand that yes.

My hope (that the buttons could store more, playlists etc) merely is to illustrate that other brands seem to manage more.

And for the extra cost vs the Essence remote, I'd expect more.

I'd certainly hope the presets aren't restricted to radio stations alone - playlists / albums should be allowed too.

I'm afraid that it'll be radio stations only reading the description, just like on the BROne.

My guess is that the remote will operate any NL product so including BV11. Join function to start with as the BV11 has no native music sources.

But we have to wait for more details ofcourse

If the Halo supports the NL/ML Converter, then support of legacy ML devices won't miss the IR since control will be over LAN or wifi. However, B&O has been horribly neglecting the NL/ML Converter in the app. Some functions work, but others just do not.

I hope it allows for volume control of the 50s. Right now I have to switch between the Core window and the BL50 window in the app, or between the Core and BL50 modes on the Beoremote 1. I guess we will know soon enough in the next few weeks.

I very much doubt the Halo will offer the broad functionality I need to control my motley collection of new and vintage B&O gear and third party solutions.

If it can control my BeoLab 90s and 50s, BeoVision 4-103 (including single-touch access to the record function and the TV guide in my Sky box), Beogram CD 5500 and Beocord 5500, as well as accessing the music on the hard drive attached to my Auralic Aries, there's a good chance I'll be investing £750 in it.

If not, it's relatively unlikely.
