I have just been in contact with Bang & Olufsen support regarding question if Beosound Core supports Deezer HIFI subscription, FLAC format (16-bit, 1,411 Kbps).

I received following answer:

"The built-in Deezer app on the Bang & Olufsen application only supports normal Deezer however via the Deezer app you can stream Hifi using Airplay 2 or Chromecast to the Beosound Core".

I definitely want the HIFI option (I do subscribe on it.. ) since I have connected beosound Core to my Beolab 5 optically.

Anyone else has other information about this or if it is planned/or even possible due to an update for Beosound Core?

That was really strange .... not supporting Deezer HiFi.

All other B&O devices do that.

Can anyone with a Core and Deezer HiFi subscription confirm?

Interesting setup. Did you connect both powerlink (RJ- Powerlink Din) and optical (to COAX digital) simultaniously? Or just optical and another option (1 ) on the BL5?

AFAIK the digital input from the BL5 was only actived when "CD" command was send through the powerlink. But maybe that is only valid when you use the option 0 (factory setting) is used.

I have Deezer HIFI and a Core connected to 50s. I thought I was getting HIFI. This makes me wonder. I will try the Deezer app and airplay and see if I can notice a difference.

Beobuddy: Yes, I read this forum back and forth. But when I came to the solution it was just perfect for me:

Having a masterlink system (cat7 wired throughout the house). A beolink converter nl/ml in the office created another light-zone but also made it possible to add a core in the living room.

Deezer is set to CD in my system, making beolab 5 to automatically listen to optical port, but I can still, and at same time listen to the same source in any other zone in my house (11 zones Unsure).

This was just the perfect solution, when sitting in my livingroom ”listening” to best audio on ”best” beolab 5 speakers I wanted to use coax input of course, but also having Deezer HIFI.

Therefore I was little dissepointed once I received the reply from b&o.. Mayby they were wrong and one can only hope so... Or if there will be an update in very near future..

See my livingroom setup here:

My initial impression is that the sound is better from the Deezer app. Will do some more listening tomorrow and see if my opinion is the same.

Have someone else switch sources for you, that way you don’t “know” what’s playing, hifi or not.

I do need to that. First will have to train someone how to do that.

Dear,

May I know how to set "Deezer is set to CD in my system, making beolab 5 to automatically listen to optical port"? Such setting is in the B&O APP?

Can you give me a screenshot for the Deezer -> CD setting? Many thanks!

Daniel

Danielshen: I set it via beolink converter nl/ml. CD-source is ”Music” equal to start Deezer..

Razlaw: My initial thought for writing to B&O, was that I felt a "different" in audioquality when playing in my office versus livingroom.

Setup in office: Beolink Converter NL/ML, Imac with Deezer app (can handle Deezer HIFI), Beosound 3 connected from 3,5mm output from Imac to the converter line-in...

....and (volume) level match precisely - best using a soundmeter of some kind.

Even a slight difference in the volume level can fool you to think that one is better or worse than the other.
