Hi All,

I have a Beosystem 4 connected to an EPSON TW7400 projector and cannot get the menu screens up.

I have connected the IR Eye/with auto contrast to the correct socket and it's wired correctly. I'm using a BeoOne BT remote control to operate it.

With the Beosystem 4 powered down and the projector on (beosystem connected to the projectors HDMI1 input) the screen righty shows 'HDMI1 - no source'. When I power up the beosystem the screen goes blank, I then get the words 'BANG AND OULFSEN' appear (quite rightly) and then the screen goes blank. If I press the menu key on the remote nothing happens. If I press TV on the remote the green light on the IR comes on, I get a click from the beosystem and then the screen shows the message from the projector 'HDMI - no source'.

Am I doing something (or not doing something) incorrectly?.....have tried many different sequences and attempts to get the menus to appear to set the system up but have seriously lost the will to live with it all !!

Any help would be very welcome indeed

Do you have the BeoRemote One set to "BeoVision" mode?

"BeoVision" mode is the intended mode. However, the BeoSystem 4 can also be set to accept "Beo4 VIDEO" mode on the B&O Remote. If this BeoSystem 4 is second-hand, it's possible that the prior owner had set it to Beo4 Video mode to accept Beo4/5/6 commands. So you might also try the Beo4 VIDEO mode as well.

Also, you should be hitting the MENU button on the remote twice. The first press is for the external device's menu, such as the menu of the blu-ray player or cable box. The second press takes you to the BeoSystem 4 menu.

I correct myself. With the BeoSytem 4, you don't press the menu (home) button twice. The first press shows "source list" and "setup" at the top of the menu and the device's PUC menu is listed below those commands.

Shouldnt the projector not been connected to the HDMI OUT.

The HDMI 1 is for input.

Hi Beojeff,

I had the remote in Beovision mode to start with initially and when that didn't work I tried it in Beo4 VIDEO mode which didn't work either.

I was advised that I should use Beovision mode but all that seems to do is turn of the HDMI Output from the beosystem 4.....very puzzling.

Incidentally, the Beo4 VIDEO mode has no effect on the system.

Also, in Beovision mode, I use the following sequence to ensure the remote is communicating with the IR

LIST > Settings > Advanced > Product Option > IR Responsive > (I check that IR Responsive is ticked) then I select 'send'. the IR Blinks red to acknowledge.

Then (as advised) I select TV, the green LED lights on the IR but the menu button has no effect. If I press TV and the go button then the Green LED goes off and the Beosystem turns off the HDMI Output (projector tells me HDMI1 - no source).

Hi Carolpa,

Sorry for any confusion with my earlier email...… the Beosystem 4 is connected via the HDMI Out socket on the system 4 to the HDMI1 Input socket on the projector

okay

did you try:

Press CINEMA ON and CINEMA OFF on

BeoRemote One to toggle between TV mode

and Cinema mode. You must first add them

to the LIST. See the guide for

BeoRemote One for information on how to

add functions.

Something else to consider is that the "TV" and "MUSIC" buttons on the BeoRemote One and BeoSystem 4 have a special function. They can be assigned to go to a default source no the BeoSystem 4. When setting up devices on the BeoSystem 4, you have an option for them to be used by the TV or MUSIC (for music sources) BeoRemote One button. The BeoSystem 4 will switch to that default source until you select another source from within the TV or MUSIC list. It's possible that the TV default has been assigned to some other source/HDMI input that you don't have connected for use.

Also, it might be a good idea to temporarily switch to the Beo4/5/6 IR mode. This brings up other settings for source commands that you don't see if it's in BeoVision mode. i've found that there can be some weird results caused by some of those settings. After cleaning up any of those settings, you can go back to BeoVision mode.

A final thing to know to clear up some confusion is that you will only get settings for either projector OR tv screen as an HDMI output. You only get extra menu settings for both if you have the special B&O version of the Atlona HDMI splitter box connected. The BeoSytem 4 actually detects by HDMI if that Atlona box with the B&O firmware is connected. Then, it gives you more menu settings. Just the regular model of that Atlona HDMI splitter is not enough. It has to have the special B&O firmware to be detected.

Hi, I have a Sony projector connected to Beosystem 4, when I start my system I have to do it as follows:

Start TV set top box using DTV

Wait til I hear the sound

Start the projector using the projectors remote

It says HDMI 1, no picture...

Wait a minute or even longer for handshaking etc.

Then the picture finally shows

Maybe in your projectors settings you need to change color depth or similar?

If you want me to check any values regarding the Beosystem 4, just let me know in this thread.

Hi Guy's,

Well after a lot of trial and error (using all your collective advice), and replacing the IR cable (bad RJ45 connector !!!), I've finally got the system 4 up and running to the point it is now all configured etc.

But I now have another new problem, I cannot 'fire up' any of the sources as I get the following message on the screen:

'Warning, protected content - select another source' No matter which source I choose, I cannot get it to display.

The screen flashes on the source selection (Blue ray, Set top box) and the message disappears for a few seconds but then returns at the top of the blank screen.

Have any of you experienced this and if so, do you know how to resolve this issue???

It sounds like an HDCP handshake issue. Have you tried using a different HDMI cable? The length of the HDMI cable might be an issue, too.

Hi, I had this issue in my system. Did a full

power cycle on the Beosystem 4, sources and screen and that solved the problem.
