Can a beolab 2 be placed within a unit were there is only the front driver showing. It's placement is not tight against the sub there is about 2-3 inch on all sides.......

Possible location off were bl2 would sit

It will probably work, but the narrow spaces on the sides might act like slot loading and impact the sound somewhat. Try it out and see if you think the sound is degraded.

That's pretty much the worst thing you can do with the speaker. He should stand 60-80cm away from all objects. But try it out. Men in Black is well suited.

I would not do that either.

Looking forward to your results.

Probably won’t make a difference for a sub since the sound is not supposed to be localized. The side passive radiators as far as I know have no bearing on the sound quality. I have a BL2 and it basically a boomy sub good for movies. So this placement should be fine. My two cents worth.

Thanks for all our advice.... I am still trying it in its new location.

It may be my old ears but I can't tell any difference in sound, I just wouldn't want to damage it.

For a normal constructed subwoofer with one or two forward facing speaker chassis it could work somehow but for Beolab 2 with the passive radiators I doubt that it'll work (and sound) good.

Please just try it out and let us know if you are happy with the result.

There is only 1 driver firing from the front. The sides just need a bit of airflow. If you leave it there, perhaps keep the power of it a bit lower..

OK peeps,

After listening to movies and audio (vinyl & cd/Spotify ) I can say there is no difference in sound, I have turned down the input/setting and put it in corner setting via switch.

The sub is set quite low anyway so not to destroy the neighbourhood.

I will continue with it in its current position.. Unless advised of potential damage!

Or if any sound guru's from b&o could advise

Just played sting " Englishman in new York " very heavy bass intro, sound exactly the same as if bl2 was in a more open area in the lounge.

1. No sound differences ( apart from lowering bass setting)

2. No distortion

3. And is working as should, no sudden faults have appeared.

So will live with it .......thanks all for all your input please feel free to give any further info / comments .

My take is that it might well make the Beolab 2 sound boomy and horrible.

However, given that I've always thought the Beolab 2 was boomy and horrible anyway - you've got nothing to lose!! Big Smile
