OK, it seems that it isnt enough to say that it has the same sources as Edge.

It does have BeoLink as you know it, meaning TuneIn, Deezer, DLNA, Bluetooth and analogue line-in, and yes, there is touch-to-join when using BeoLink, AS there also is out-of-the-box on a GA enabled B&O product.

The B&O page only says Chromecast and nothing about Tunein or Deezer.

Okay!

I was just wondering - I choose to believe in you rather than in the information on the website 😉

When you say it works well with the ATV on the HDMI input of the Stage, do you mean controlling it with the BROne or with the Apple remote?

P.S. I suppose that there will be some sort of tutorial at some point.

Maybe I should be patient untill then.....however, it is important to know ‘things’, when you want to recommend it to friends and family 🙂

I'm controlling my Apple TV with the BeoRemote One through the LG. Like I would with PUC.

CEC-implementation can vary between different Set top boxes, but I know for a fact that NVidia Shield and Apple TV is working well.

Still think PUC will be around in a few years?

Imo, Puc is very useful, and I do not hope they will skip it in the Beovisions.

Have never had a setup were CEC was remotely useful.

KMA:

From the specs, if you use LG C9, you can control C9 and BeoSound Stage with BeoRemore One BT.

The fact you can use a BeoRemote (which is an additional purchase btw....) and use it with a C9 and Stage still doesn't imply it's 'made for a C9'. It just means the C9 has the functionality to be controlled via a BeoRemote and, thus, a Stage, too.

ie. we've still put 2+2 together and tried to get 4, thinking this is 'designed for the C9'. It's not. The C9 just has additional built-in B&O functionality: https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1567445730

Won't be cheap to purchase a C9 + Stage + BeoRemote. You might as well look at an Eclipse if you're going that way.

I still see it as a fantastic wall-mounted AirPlay 2 speaker rather than a 'soundbar'.

At current prices it would be 1.600 + 1.500 + 260 = 3.360. Same as the list price of a Horizon 40" with easel stand.

Seriously contemplating upgrading from my V1/Essence-II-combo to a Stage+LG solution. Just wait and see what STB come up with...

And, with a C9-screen you'll get access to BeoLiving / Beo-HOME CONTROL as well (as confirmed by Khimo in the Home Automation-forum).

There is a long way up to the Eclipse, in 3 month when the C9 have been discounted in price, you have a very small price that everyone can afford. I think this is going to be a big seller. For me as a Eclipse owner it does not have what I need, but I know a lot where this would be perfect, both use and price wise.

WISA and PowerLink will have to wait for whatever Eclipse sound centre like product they do in the future.

If you equip the C9 with the WiSa-stick and the BS Stage, would those two go together? Could the Stage play audio through the WiSa-connected speakers via the LG tv?

+ Will there be metadata of what is playing on the Stage displayed on the C9's screen like on the Harmony?

I dont think so, also the result if possible would not be good i think.

I dont think so either, it is written that it can play music without turning the tv on, which is good.

In Sweden you can get a C9 65" for SEK 35.000

BS Stage will be SEK 15.000

A BROne is SEK 2.799

Think the total package of around 53.000 SEK quite okay compared to a 65" Eclipse that in Sweden cost around SEK 127.000.

(Knowing Eclipse is a different beast)

I wonder if they’ll do a WISA capable version in the future? Considering how cheap the transmitters are even to the public, I’d have thought it would be an excellent upgrade.

Sound out the LG to the Stage AND sound via the WiSA Ready/stick solution does definitely not go together - it’s either or!

I wonder why they write that the Stage - when controlled with a BROne - needs a C9.

To my understanding the precondition is WebOS 4.5....which is installed on all new LG 2019 models.

Could it really be, that the needed app is limited to the C9 model?

Personally I would not hope so - it’s a fact that some people don’t want a (big) 55” tv for their kitchen/bedroom.

Why not let it be possible to use it (BROne controlled) with a 43” LG LCD model?

Need for official clarification here!

I believe that the Stage is a step on the right path. Price is good, multiroom is available, ARC, Atmos, etc. I would definitely buy a Stage if it had the audio processing capabilities of a Beovision. What I mean is the possibility to connect more speakers and have all the surround tweaks you have on a beovision. Long story short if the Stage was a Beovision without a screen and being capable to be connected to any screen, even a computer screen (what I mean is to equip the Stage with a TV Tuner).

On the other hand a friend of mine who own an LG TV he is more than happy with what the Stage can do as it is now. He is not into connecting speakers and tweaking sound etc. So it is a good solution out of the box.

Overall I believe it sell well. Fingers crossed that it will not have bugs and glitches like the Moment or the Horizon cause then new customers will not come back...

I was being facetious - I don't need a breakdown of the costs to prove it's not the same. Clearly not. But the point is the Eclipse is a) a far more unified beast and b) probably available pre-loved and/or discounted soon. Clearly the soundbar is for some people, but if you're going to spend close to £2000 on the oak version, and you don't own a C9, there might be other options.

One of the funniest things about this board is that people jump to defend the Eclipse whenever necessary, now it's switched from the Eclipse to the soundbar - there's no middle ground.

It is just two different products, a Beosound Stage customer I dont see as a Eclipse customer, and the other way around. If you do not need a great stand option, PUC, and surround processor, then the stage is interesting, if you do need it, the Eclipse is.

No need to defend the soundbar, nor the Eclipse. They both live on their own merits. Some will like the soundbar and some will not. I´m just happy that there are now one more route into the B&O brand for people that e.g want to spice up their existing TV experience.

I really hope there will be other LG models as well; but the specs state there is a specific VLAN-connection from the Stage to the C9. So I'm afraid it really is only the C9.

From what I heard it will be the C9 and follow up models... something to do with the B&O App running on the LG Cx (which, rumours, will be a  standard app when leaving the factory)

Exactly... If LG (and B&O) can update this app so that LG screens are out of the box able to communicate with the Stage (or future B&O products) then I'm confident that there is still a future for TV related products in the B&O gamma.

Why not choose the BeoVision eclipse in stead:) if you want 1 unit as you say, much more Nice then the canvas..

And eclipse can also more with the different motorisert placement, surround sound engine that allow you to upgrade with a subwoofer beolab 19, and full surround later:)

puc control that work perfect with all your connected black box (if you have one)

why choose canvas😂

People dont realy see what you Get in a eclipse, compared it to an normal flat TV. Sad:/

I’m not sure people don’t see what you get as much as they don’t place that much value in the features for the cost of obtaining them from B&O lately.

If you could point to the exceptional quality and rock solid, bug-free operation, you could possibly make a case. The software and operational quirks have let them down.

If the repair and service was able to quickly and cost effectively provide repairs, that would help, too. Recent products don’t seem to be easily or cost effectively repaired compared to the asking price of them.

I’m hoping the stage can win many hearts and new customers in ways that very expensive, but somewhat unreliable products simply cannot. Those that can afford those products also expect them to be worthwhile. Pretty, complex, expensive, and functionally challenged is not a winning combination.

I bought C8 last year and hopefully LG will be kind enough to offer support to upgrade the SW. I believe we are going to see a new center speaker with 5.1/7.1 connection, else it will be a missing link going forward.

BTW, what is PUC? Embarrassed

Peripheral Unit Control - BV's have PUC ports for the Infra-red wire connecting your, for example, set top box / blu ray to the BV, to allow the BV remote to operate the set top box.   The set top box will also be connected to the BV by HDMI.

So 2 connections for each black box - one HDMI (picture/audio), one PUC cable (remote control signal path).

The new Stage doesn't have PUC capacity - it will rely on the HDMI cable to pass remote control commands, which is another way of doing the same thing, sort of.
