Someone (not me) is going to have an evening long orgasm... The words Dolby Atmos and B&O in one product.
Anyway... first looks: meeeeeeeeh... Looks retro...

Will have to see and hear it in the flesh.

I have no need for one myself, but I really like the look of it and hope it sells for them!

Quick question. Wrong Thread

What am I seeing here. Round object on the screen? A Qi wireless Charger for E8 2.0 or something more substantial?

Looks nice and clean, if pricing is right this could draw a lot of people to the brand (again). But pricing is key!

But can it be used as a centre in a surround set i.e. incorporating your other BeoLabs?

Not obvious (unless I missed something) from the website.

In which case, no long orgasm.

I'm pretty sure this is a standalone product, designed for use with an LG TV and thats it.

But if anyone else has information to the contrary, please let us know.

The pricing is in the Engadget article.

Reasonable pricing.

It is stand-alone I see no PL in the spec though

Yes indeed.

As was posted here by myself and others (many months ago), this was always going to be the standalone product.

And as Roger indicated at the time of the Harmony release, the pricing would be reasonable at 1500 Euros ((1250 GBP), which is what is being quoted.

A fully fledged Eclipse style sound centre is much further down the road.

Oh,  and this has no upwards firing speakers, so I cant imagine the Stages' 3D / Atmos sound is going to be that impressive, maybe in a small room perhaps.

It is understandable B&O had to ditch both PowerLink and WiSA in this specific product (even though I am wondering if PL still has a future).

On the flip side I am thinking about potential new gen B&O customers: it is not a smart soundbar and I haven’t gone through the specs yet, not sure if Spotify and other audio services are built in.

I still see Sonos as technically more attractive from that perspective.

Aesthetically there is no comparison, the Beosound Stage is very nice. Yes - thumbs up

Maybe it’s just me but the style has some Ruark Audio flavour.

I like the buttons, they might be a nod to the classic BeoGram 4000.

The price is not sky high, I hope they will be able to sell in volumes. Smile

My view is that this could present a superb wall-mounted or even horizontal speaker for a very good price. Ok, might not be A9 level, but I bet it's far more powerful than the A6 or even BeoSound 2, for effectively the same price.

Horizontal baby-brother Edge, anyone?

If this can be used with a C9 LG TV, all controlled via a beoremote one BT, then that is a very attractive setup! It would be great if you could add 5 speakers (4 normal plus 1 sub), so that you have 5.1 Sound with Multiroom.

There is PowerLink on the new Harmony, so not ditched (yet).

WISA and PowerLink will have to wait for whatever Eclipse sound centre like product they do in the future.

The Stage is not necessarily aimed primarily at those with a bunch of BeloLabs and legacy stuff, more for those with a 3rd party TV (LG) and perhaps another multi-room Beosound speaker elsewhere.

What I don’t understand is that is it technically difficult to add PL and/or wisa to the soundstage - is it a design limitation also?- I am no engineer

If PL/wisa is included I would have bought this without even hearing-the catch is that I would have bought a c9 77 and p/e my eclipse 55 which BO does not want me to do (so to speak)

My personal initial take:

The good : The price is right. Clean almost classic B&O design (reminds me of Beocenter 10), dedicated center, lots of drivers, will be sold outside official stores, choice of wood or aluminum.

The not so good : Why not the same width as the TV? The fillet on the cabinet makes it look like the cheap IKEA  speakers. Ironically as opposed to the Harmony this bar does include Atmos although it can't really deliver Atmos. In the attempt to deliver Atmos the drivers are put at a 45 angle, according to conventional wisdom, this will adversely affect the sound since the listening position will be at a 45 angle. You can take a look at how it works below. You are situated between the red and the green graph (30 and 60 degrees off axis).

But I am sure the elaborate vocabulary of marketing once again will defeat physics  Big Smile

Bottom line, much better than expected, and if it gets out from the dusty dealerships (No offence, I truly feel for those guys) and into the Megastores I am sure it will sell in good numbers. And it needs to! The margins must be low compared to normal B&O products, but fortunately this product is moving in the right direction on the Laffer curve.

One last thing, this can't be good news for the Eclipse.

The TV? It’s a generic soundbar and all TVs are a different width. Even if you created a bar to precisely match the width of an LG, it might look 2cm shorter than a Sony, so what’s the point?

Actually the Stage is targeted towards th C9,- this is where you get the full functionality i.e. Beoremote one. I might be wrong but I am guessing the marketing material shows the 55" so at least hit that one. But you are right either nail it or don't even try!

I was thinking about which one i would choose the Canvas or the Stage, and without having heard either (could easily sway my opinion) I would properly still chose the Canvas simply because the Soundbar and the TV becomes one entity, the design integration is simply better. The fillet on the stage doesn't really help either since the LG is a clean rectangle.

Down to personal preferences I guess Smile  But again the Stage is absolutely much better than i would have expected.

Are you sure? I don't see this in the B&O marketing - it just promotes it as a soundbar for a TV with HDMI Arc support. No specific mention of the C9 anywhere. I think that's just something you've read on here, made a few assumptions and gone with this as 'fact'.

I'm pretty sure B&O won't have produced a soundbar for...a single TV. Sorry, but I'd like you to elaborate on where this is specifically aimed only at C9 owners?

From the specs, if you use LG C9, you can control C9 and BeoSound Stage with BeoRemore One BT.

Otherwise, you use your TV's remote to control the Stage via HDMI ARC.

So Stage & C9 is a winning combo, if you have other B&O products and want to use BeoRemore One BT to control it all – including the LG C9.

You install the same App on C9 as you do with BeoVision Harmony, when setting it up.

I hadn't realised that!

Is that true then for the newer GA connected products, such as the BS1/2 and A9 Gen 4?

So much for the touch to activate.

And Christian, please - while we are at it.

Will it be possible to load PUC’s for the HDMI-in connection?

Otherweise - what is the point of being able to control a combo of an LG tv and the Stage with the BeoRemote One, if you can’t connect the ATV or the Blu ray player etc, that you have on the HDMI-in with that same remote?

That was exactly my thinking too! Not everyone wants to wallmount the TV.

Otherwise, seems like a good value for money - let‘s see how it sounds and looks up close once it becomes available in stores. For now, thumb up B&O for (finally) bringing an appropriately priced/spec‘d product targeting the aspirational part of mainstream customers.

What? Edge has both TuneIn and Deezer, dude.

The product does have Deezer. Don't know where recordere.dk got this information :)

OK, it seems that it isnt enough to say that it has the same sources as Edge.

It does have BeoLink as you know it, meaning TuneIn, Deezer, DLNA, Bluetooth and analogue line-in, and yes, there is touch-to-join when using BeoLink, AS there also is out-of-the-box on a GA enabled B&O product.

The control for external set top boxes rely on CEC, and all HDMI's including the 3 available in the TV and the 1 in the soundbar can be used. I'm using an Apple TV here and it works well.
