I hope that this doesn’t affect N.RADIO on my beosound 5!
while it doesn’t necessarily use tune-in, the requirement to sign in is worrying.
For you as UK-citizen not much....if that was, what you listened to there.
For others - abroad - there will be no difference.
We will still be able to listen......at a ridiculously low bitrate - which is the reason why I never listen to BBC, anyway.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV.
Sometimes it’s not about you....
the BBC access is pretty important to quite a few people

No. Its about the BBC and protecting their “unique” funding model (read antiquated, facist, protectionist model)
Easy now - I’d be just as disappointed, if that would happen in Denmark, where DR Radio is just as important to people there.
The biggest concern we should have here is, whether this is just a start - maybe that is what all national broadcasters will do soon.
And - by the way - I’d like to listen to BBC, but in a decent quality.
I think listening to radio stations from other countries should be part of our cultural exchange today......and should be supported by every country/governent
The problem is registration; the BBC want to know what you are listening to, and when - and there doesn’t seem to be an easy way with the current B&O solutions to add this. Yes, this may happen to other state broadcasters as they prepare to go subscription based.....
Maybe worth flagging to B&O?
Millemissen: And - by the way - I’d like to listen to BBC, but in a decent quality.
I presume that you've considered using a VPN (or DNS service like 'unblockus') to get the BBC's UK spec 320 kbps rather than the poor international 96 kbps service?
BBC have already denied another group of listeners by withdrawing their mp3 based broadcasts, which caused uproar a few years back. Most streamers simply cannot accommodate the BBC chosen streaming system.... it's OK via an iPad or the like where you can sign in.
The original linked article seems to suggest that you will still be able to use tunein if outside the U.K. If that's true, maybe VPN is the way forward to solve this and similar problems.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure TuneIn allows you to select between different stream options and you can choose a better BitRate. I've done this a few times when streaming Virgin radio.
This quote hopefully means B&O is exempt too:
”BBC Radio services via TuneIn on some devices, where it’s neither technically or economically practicable to demand a sign-in window, will continue for now. These include TuneIn on SONOS speakers and some older connected radios.”

These are the options I get via the TuneIn app (I suppose the use of my account in the B&O devices will use exactly the same as I choose there).
128 kbps isn’t something to be proud about!
About TuneIn losing stations, get used to it. I lost my beloved local station from TuneIn because it moved to be exclusive to "fm.com" (which the parent company owns both radio station and fm.com). As streaming radio becomes more prevalent, more station owners want to maximize profit by monitizing all user data (our clicks and listening habits). This wasn't the first to disappear, and I'm sure it will not be the last.
I tried using fm.com on my phone, then bluetooth to my Beo, but too much bother, and I don't want to give fm.com my clicks. Goodbye favorite radio station.
Am I wrong in assuming the BBC channels are still available on old faithful... FM?
Millemissen: 128 kbps isn’t something to be proud about!
This is radio! I think your expectations are a little high here.

This is what I get from the BV (V100 series) for Radio 3.......TuneIn is not the provider there.
A radio station with music deserves a bit more than 128 kpbs - imo.
Absolutely not! Unless of course you refer to NET radio!
BBC Radio gone from TuneIn (via the B&O app) already this morning......
Can someone explain me why ALL my radio stations on the B&O app are noted as “not supported” today? TuneIn is dead? On the Tunein app, there are only 4 of my favorites remaining...
diisign.com
Update : after launching the radio on the A9, there is no more favorite on my tunein app, and impossible to find any radio station at all.
I signed off and signed in again in TuneIn : my favorites are back but all are marked as “not available in your locality” I’m in France... others with this in France?
BS Moment, BS Core, BG 4002, BC 4500, BS1, BL18, BL19, BL8000 + RCV1, A6, M5, M3, A1, P6 (tks Botty), H5, TR1
Ok, so it seems to be nationwide...
Same here. None of my favorites works here in Holland.
Same here.
Must be a TuneIn issue - if you go to the TuneIn app, you will only get podcasts.
All stations - including the BBC’s - play just as yesterday via the netradio service on my BV’s.
The BBC programmes play as usual from their website.
A matter of time - and waiting - for them/TuneIn to get on the right track again.
The reasons we probably won’t ever know.
Best regards - Dyssegaard

So I guess we will have to keep that page open and refresh it.
First time ever, that I experienced that with TuneIn.
Sandyb:Thanks for the update Though a glimpse into the future- I had to (in my case), use the BBC Sounds app and AirPlay to my kitchen BS2. That will be the scenario once BBC disappears from TuneIn properly. What use is the B&O app or touch to activate? (Well, it has some use, but the workflow changes/ gets worse)

I am quite sure these issues has got anything to do with each other.
Despite the previously linked website saying that there is an issue generally, it seems that they have fixed it already.
I am using TuneIn on my Essence right now - playing as before.
All favourites are there - also the BBC’s.
(The TuneIn app also works)
I am quite sure these issues hasn’t got anything to do with each other.
Please ignore the first of these posts - due to mistyping!

Oh dear.Somebody did something somewhere.
Sorry, but I cannot help smiling at all the obstacles people are searching out for themselves - just to hear the music they like to hear. This case may be about radio, but the general strategy seems to be the same. It's as if the more technical things, links, wireless thingys, iOS-versions, routers, streaming services, firewalls and whatdoIknow, the better. Now, because someone somewhere, god knows who and where, flipped a switch or clicked a certain place on a screen with a mouse, or someservice changed their policies, you can no longer hear music.
For gods sake. Put a record on or load a tape and press PLAY!Can't be simpler - and you're in total control!
Martin.
