Hello !

I am ready to get a Beovision Avant 75 and read a lot about it. I notice that the MK2 (android version) seems to have bad review in term of bugs. But are there any differences in panel between MMK1 and MK2 ?

Cheers,

Serge

Yes, I believe that in the MK1 versions, the 55 inch had an edge lit panel, whereas the 75 and 85 had back lit panels with decent local dimming.

With the MK 2 versions, the 55 and 75 both had backlit globally dimmed panels, while the 85 remained the same.

I had one of the new backlit globally dimmed panels in the BV14 - I wouldn't go near it, especially if you watch movies. It ability to handle above black, shadow detail etc was really very poor.

I swapped the BV14 for an Avant Mk 1 55, which even with its edge lit panel, was a good deal better.

And that's before you get to the Android TV in the MK 2 Avants - a very good reason to stay away in itself.

Thanks you Sandyb ! I have a Loewe Individual Compose 52" from 2010 so I imagine that everything recent will be more advanced ;)

Absolute correct but to be honest I like the picture quality of the Mk II - based on a subjektiv Point of view - better; I would wish the Software of MK I together with panel and 4K ability of MK II

I’ve got the Avant 75 NG and the software has stabilized. Mine has been solid for the past year+ and we’ve really enjoyed it.

What do I have to pay attention to ? Is it possible to have some service information about the TV ?

Mine crashes about every 1 to 2 weeks; main concern: we watch satellite - zapping Takes time and sometimes ends with black screen and soft reset -> Android start up; 2 days ago the hdd was not recognised; regularly EPG/guide is not loaded- TV is hard wired with high broadband router - ....

best regards elmar

Honnestly I am really not convinced about Android TV and knowing it is inside a B&O TV makes me worried.

What worried me more is knowing that in the past 5 years there was at least 3 differents OS in B&O TV... that is not the path of the future.

Android TV 5.1.1 known as Lollipop is the problem.

Should the Android TV platform be updated, a number of the frustrations would disappear. Sont and others have done this...

Its also funny the Android TV's in B&O Marketing are sold with the promise of "the ever-evolving TV experience". Clearly this is not the case. Bordering on false advertising I would have thought.

My vote would go to the MK1, peak B&O and still is a great tv. Also with the mk1 the 2d dimming works much cleaner than the global backlit as it just turns the whole screen down and doesn't look great when there are still high lights on screen.
