Hi, I have connected a BG4500 to BL90 through a converter to RCA. Sound, compared with other input sources, is very low and without oomph.

Did i buy a broken BG4500? Is it in the build-in amp that is the issue? Do you know if there is any way to adjust it?

Any other pointers you can give me?

Thanks for your feedback!

:)

Hi Ditlev,

The output of a Beogram with a working pre-amp built in will be slightly lower than other line level sources, but usually this should give a well balanced sound and no more than two "volume up" presses on the remote or app should be needed to adjust this to match your other sources.

It is worth checking if the Line input on the speakers has had the sensitivity adjusted within the setup app.

If the sound is not clear, with the correct tonal balance, then this may suggest a fault pre-amp or cartridge in the Beogram.  A B&O repairer should be able to easily check this for you.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

thanks Steve, well - it seems I've been sold a dud then. Not sure it's worth repairing it...

Hi Ditlev,

I once got a Beogram7000 that should also have RIAA fitted as standard.

Someone had gotten in and "bridged" the RIAA. So sound was only weak and nothing but treble.

I just rewired the RIAA and everything was fine.

They are great tables - worth having a look into

Best,

I also have a BG4500 where someone had bypassed the RIAA. Had to rewire.

oh - so someone had actually opened it up and bypassed it by wiring manually around it? I guess it's worth playing around with it a bit.
