I have a beolab penta mk 3 from year 2000.That means the last produced model. They sound wonderful. By moving between to cities in Norway i had to deconnect the loudspeaker from the receiver. In that case i forgot to sign the plus and the minus wire. By reconnecting the base(receiver) to the penta loudspeaker i have a problem. Both wires are grey. I can no long see the different between the plus and minus wire. Can somebody out there help me out of this problem? Pag .

Both wires a grey but if you take a close look then you will see one wire has a stripe at the side (right wire on the picture). That should be the plus!

I've bought several rings from Good Hifi for several different speakers. But not for the penta. (bought them, didn't use them)

With all my respect and in my humble opinion are these rings not suitable enough. But you already know this and it has already been discussed in the workbench section.

But for the time being...

Can anyone tell me if the Mk3 sound different. I've noticed, that the MK 3 uses a different tweeter than older Pentas. The dome is made of textil.

Thank you very much in advance.

Can anyone comment on this topic?

I have a pair of Beolab Mk3 Pentas. Some penta lovers claim, their sound is veilled.

I have the ones with the textile seas tweeter. The sound is absolutely not veilled, it's precise, clear and excellent for voices.

Is it possible, that B&O has updated the crossover and changed the sound of the pentas in the late ninetees or early 2000?

Thanks a lot.

Regards Chris

Mk3 had a small change in the crossover.

So, do the mk3 have a different sound?

They do use a different tweeter and have a completly differernt crossover. Has anyone ever made a comparison between a pair of Pentas from 1988 and 2000?
