BeoSound 5 Not Supported by Spotify

We just received the following announcement from Spotify:

“We want to give you a heads up that Spotify support will soon be removed from your Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 5 speaker. 

We want to make playing Spotify on your speaker and other devices better and easier which means regrettably that we sometimes have to discontinue device-specific integrations.

For alternative ways to keep enjoying Spotify on your product, please contact your Bang & Olufsen store.

We have a BeoSound 5 connected to B&O speakers.  What does this announcement mean for us?  What are the “alternative ways to keep enjoying Spotfy on your product?”

Hey everybody,

therefore i think it is important to keep this thread alive, keep calling your dealer or regional manager. Tell them it is unacceptable. If they want they can solve it.

I agree, keep sending support requests to B&O as well that you are not satisfied with their solution.

They have the new Spotify code available that Spotify have shared with B&O.

Went to my dealer yesterday, and even though they try at their level to find a solution for their customers they don't get any support from B&O itself apart from the three suggested (underachieving and stupid,...) solutions.

here you will see that, compared to BS5 owners, this thread concerning Squeezebox gets more traction.

To charger, I have used 400w power inverter to charge shaver when camping outside. In other days, I will use it to charge laptop, phone and camera battery in car. The method for us to use this tool is to connect it with car cigarette lighter charger outlet. If you need to catch more information about this charger, you can search bestekmall on Google. I am sorry to hear that BeoSound 5 not supported by Spotify. However, you can solve it by using TuneFab Spotify Music Converter and converting to common used format like MP3 so that it will be compatible on BeoSound 5.

This is silly! There are plenty such softwares available! The problem is not the audio format. It’s in no way a solution to make Spotify again compatible with BeoSound 5.

B&O did offer a 20% discount on the Moment for existing BS5 owners after Spotify's announcement - but then the Moment was discontinued over night...

Some of us where hoping that they would issue a new sw with support for Deezer - because they have everything in place, legally and technically, to do so - except the willingness, I guess.

I guess it is more the trouble of having to maintain yet another sw platform, that holds them back.

And the BS5 is not a NL compatible product - wouldn’t quite fit in to there current product line.

 

One might say....then make it NL compatible.

This surely would be possible (would need new updated hardware), but would be rather expensive (all costs considered)...

.....and will probably stay a dream not coming true.

I doubt that such an (relatively) expensive product would sell enough - now that people have gotten used to handheld screens.

Lol that’s not really a discount then is it? Stick out tongue it’s more getting rid of old stock that doesn’t seem to work well either(for other reasons). I don’t own either, but i have amazing other problems, seems like there is a trend here
