so, I've jumped straight in and got myself a Beogram 1000, don't know too much about it, but there are three main issues after picking it up:
11 There's no counterweight
2 it's on a 2 pin plug (I'm in the uk)
3 it uses a SP14 stylus
so my main questions are, where can I find a counterweight, or if not, what is a good solution?
What styli can I use on the record player?
can I just buy an adaptor plug, or will it trip my house out without an earth?
Hopefully these arent wlementary questions, and hopefully someone can help
ghanks!!
I have a spare counterweight
the 2 pin plug if you have an extension block that's thin enough you can put a uk plug in upside down this releases the earth lock then you can stuck the 2 pin in works every time better than a lot of the converters out there
the sp14 best to get it refurbished
no it wont trip the earth leakage loads of things have no earth
what stylus can you use
sp14
sp6-7
there are some cheap knock off floating around that sound awful and dont have a moving cross just a moving magnet dont buy these they have no markings on and a blue line on the front lined up with the stylus
you can also sort of use the
sp10
sp12
but the compliance is not right
usually best to get it retiped as used good or "NOS" is often far from it and well worn
you can get a retip at the moment for £99 on eBay
you might have to sort out the motor as the bearings will need some oil by now
good luck
Hi there! I know it may be a very long shot (considering you posted this 3 years ago), but might you still have a spare counterweight? I've also got a Beogram 1000 without a counterweight....and any help finding one would be so very appreciated.
