Is it possible to connect an ipod directly to a Beolab 2000?

Cheers

Nigel

Hi Nigel,

Sorry for the slow reply.  My baby daughter was born on 3rd September so I'm working on the Beolab 2000 project during the 2am feeds.....

This is taking a liitle longer than expected, both due to my family circumstances and the constraints of the project:-

1) The speaker must still work via Masterlink without needing switching or alteration

2) The speaker should ideally not need internal modification (or this should be minimal and reversable) and any external additions must be small and inconspicuous

3) The full volume range of the speaker should be available when using the iPod (tricky, as this is an unbalanced input gonig to a balanced speaker)

My thanks go to Lee at Lifestyle AV for his patience in letting me borrow one of his Beolab 2000's!  Please bear in mind if you are in a hurry for a solution that you can use a Beolink Converter (the latest version that can act as an ML driver) to send any audio input into a Beolab 2000 without needing an audio master.  The aim of this project is to acheive this without needing the converter........

I will keep you updated!

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Thanks everyone for your kind words!

My daughter Eva Jayne was born on 3rd September, weighing 7lbs 1 oz.  Mum and baby are doing fine (and both are sleeping as I type this email!).  I am now pleased that I built my new workshop at the side of my home last year, instead of moving to a new workshop at a different site - I can spend time with my family while I work!

Kind regards, Steve.

Congratulations to your new familly member, Steve!

As you can't sleep now, it's a good time to work at night for the Beolab project while your wife is feeding your daughter. This saves time Big Smile

Congratulations Steve! All the best to your wife and daughter, hope they are happy and well.

Hey, I just bought an audio switchbox from you, hopefully that'll pay for a nappy or two and help out. :-)

You know Steve, we need a picture of the little one! Nothing brightens up a stressful day like seeing a cute baby of someone you know on the forums. Makes you smile, people like to coo over kids.

Hi Jonas,

I'm really sorry, but this isn't something that I'm working on any longer.  The aim was to find a simple solution that could easily be replicated as a kit to send out by post, but as this doesn't appear to be possible, I've moved on to other projects instead.

The official B&O solution is to use an ML/MCL Converter (the later type 1161166) between the audio source and the Beolab 2000 to act as an M/L driver and switch on the speaker.  I would recommend this approach, as I was unable to find an easier solution without dismantling the speaker.

Kind regards, Steve.

Thanks for the update Steve, bummer that there wasn't an easy solution.

The cabling I needed when we spoke at Struer almost a year ago is still on the agenda, we might be moving houses in the reasonable future, so I'll contact you when I know what I need.

Late congrats, but never the less. Hope your family is doing fine. Yes - thumbs up
