Hi.  Just joined after buying a 9000mkIII.

Sadly, budget now gone so looking for an interim speaker option while I save up...and was considering the 3500 soundbar.  While I realise it wont have the power of the 8000s I seek, I am not looking to blow the neighbours away just yet.

Will this work and what cables do I need?

Sorry - not a HiFi expert - just always fancied a 9000 on the wall!  Stunning!

Hi and welcome to beoworld.

Congratulations on acquiring a design icon.

The BL3500 is designed to be used in a link room as part of a larger multi-room setup so is not designed to operate in the same room as your BS9000.

Have you considered a pair of Beolab 4000 speakers? They are great sounding speakers, likely not much different cost wise compared to a BL3500, and are extremely flexible when it comes to mounting and placement options...

Kind Regards,

Martin.

If the 9000 is without speaker (and in Option 0) , you should be able to control it with the remote through the BL3500.

Use a normal MasterLink cable for connecting both.

Thanks Riverstyx.  I was thinking 3500 so that in future (when I have my 8000s), I would move the 3500 to a second room (kitchen) but for now use the 3500 directly connected to the 9000 in the music room while I save up.  The 4000 speakers do look great - but (as buying pre-used) the saving from the 8000s I desire is not great.

So the question remains that (apart from me being a heretic:-)) can I use 3500 speakers as my main output in the time being?

Thanks Millemissen.  This sounds positive....now off to look at how to select option 0 :-)

If the 9000 had no speakers connected, it is in Option 0.

If you have the ML cable just plug it in.

Should have been 'if it HAS no speakers'.

MM is correct, BS9000 in A.OPT 0 (which it will default to if it has no speakers connected to it's powerlink connectors), and BL3500 in L.OPT 6 (also the default) works perfectly - I've just tried it.

For some reason I had it in my head that the BS9000 in option 0 might not work properly without a video master (in opt 2) also being present but I was wrong, and the BL3500 obviously makes perfect sense for you if you are looking to move it to another room when you acquire your BL8000s.

Kind Regards,

Martin.

Martin,

Thanks for taking the trouble to try this out for me!

I have now ordered the speaker and cable.

Much appreciated.  Will let you know how I get on.

Well.   A bit of a delay owing to some summer sun chasing...but arrived home to 3500 speaker and relevant cables.

Simple connections and now mounted on wall above the 9000...looks pretty good and the sound is actually excellent for the size of room I am using.

Need to chase in wires and cables...but that is a job for another weekend I think.

Many thanks for assistance all.
