Beoperson,  The only HD mod that I know of is a resistor (i think) to correct for a pinkish picture (not sure if its for 480p or 1080i) with a certain device.  However, it may do something else or there may be another HD upgrade that I do not know of......I sure do hope this is it.  Are you going to try to get yours fixed?

In that case the only thing I can think of is that the component connection can't be connected/disconnected while being viewed.  Try hooking up the component cables ONLY and try switching to another source (such as DVD) and then switch back to it.  Verify that you have the correct connections for the component ...
