  • Re: BeoPlay A9 or BeoSound Core with BeoLab 6000's

I purchased an A9 MkII with a view to replace a Beocentre 2 driving Beolab 6000's and a Beolab 11. Although I love the A9 I decided to keep the 6000 kit as well as the whole sound picture is so much bigger and softer. The weak link is the Beocentre 2 whose performance is not matched by it's looks. But overall if I had to choose between the two purely on sound quality I would lose the A9! Each to their own eh?

  • Re: Beolab 5 PL and Coax setup

Option 4 will only control the volume (power) of the Beolab 5's independent of your Avant so making the PL inputs u/s. Option 1 will allow the Avant to control the Beolab 5's BUT they do need a signal from the Avant to turn on/off etc. Just connecting the Aries via co-ax will not turn them on.

  • Beogram 4000? Really?

Well, I don't really know what to think of my thoughts? I have a Beosystem 7000 with mmc2 playing through Beolab 5's. But I have an incline to getting a Beogram 4000 (even if I have to rebuild it) for the promise of that wonderful sound of the 70's? I think .I am mad beyond but what do you think? Most importantly, would there actually be any sound improvement?

There is nothing B&O make that can justify using the Beolab 50 speakers! This comment was made by me to the dealer at my demo. He was demonstrating them to me using Spotify off his iPhone. It is a major issue as far as I am concerned. I have a beosystem 7000 driving my Beolab 5's at home and a digital SPDIF cable from the Beogram CD 7000. Even with this it was not good enough so recently purchased a CD transport Cambridge CXC machine. Big improvement but I hate the fact that I have had to

Well here I am with my Beolab 5's and I am now hating them! Just a few minutes with the 50's and it's enough. The difference to me is enormous. My 5's are now for sale. Really!

I had a demo yesterday afternoon. Aesthetically they are truly beautiful, to my eyes at least. There is an aire of real quality and weight to them. Bigger and more imposing than the photos suggest. Then came he audition. 5 seconds. That is all it took. They demolish Beolab 5's! Huge tight bass and a very impressive sound stage. Imaging was also very impressive. Mid detail in a different league. It was noticeable to me that they didn't sound like B&O. They have that richness and warmness

Well Millemissen I am trying to find the pitfalls of a £15,000 speaker and there are some! To blatently shove the onus in my ear I feel is unfair? Everyone that has listened to my setup has agreed with me so it is not just me alone. The fact is that when digital replaced analogue the "tone" became much courser and for me it can be very noticable and unpleasant. For the amount of money spent I do not expect to sit and curse what I hearing but at times this does happen. Whether that
