• Re: AirPlay 2
I am curious about the HomePod, and it is very agressively priced. Very interesting with competition in the field.
I was just over at MacRumors and it seems that everyone there thinks it is very overpriced! They wanted it priced around $200. I guess they are not the target audience for the BeoSound 1 or 2!

Actually it sounds like B&O's statement is more about how they are ok with Apple coming up with their own version of multi-room, rather than a statement about backward compatibility with their current systems. I can only hope that Apple would have designed AirPlay 2 without obsoleting the original AirPlay. I don't know how long B&O knew about the specs of AirPlay 2 to have designed it into BeoSound 1/2 and M5.

I know the January firmware update for the BeoSound 1/2, Essence Mk II, BeoSound 35, and BeoPlay A6/A9 had a similar multi-room update: - Apple AirPlay can now be distributed over BeoLink Multiroom. It requires an activation via the product settings. I don't know if this means all these are good-to-go for AirPlay 2, or does the "newer" devices only extend to the BeoSound 1/2, or does it go back a couple of years to the Essence Mk II generation. While I wouldn't mind eventually upgrading

Would this kill the current AirPlay functionality in the B&O products? I would be happy just to have the functionality I have now.

Has the tablet or phone replaced the need for a TV for watching content?
Has TV had its day as a main focal point of the home, where family gather and watch things together? Do we actually have time to sit down and watch a movie these days? Actually, do we even have the attention span to do so?!!
Are you inferring that we can't put our phones down for 5 minutes?!? I would be very surprised to hear that TV's days are past, at least for movie watching.

My immersion in B&O started with my BeoSound 8 which I almost immediately converted it into a streaming system with an airport express. It was a great system and it was no surprise when B&O released the BeoPlay A8, but I essentially had that with the exception of the lightning connector. I thoroughly enjoy all of my B&O systems. They were not without minor glitches, but most of them have been worked out. I know of other similar systems, mainly Meridian, but B&O has a big advantage

  • Re: Death Spiral?

I have a high-end audio store near me, Gramophone. I was looking at their web site and went to "Our Brands" and saw Bang and Olufsen! I thought that this was great as long as it wasn't just the Play brand. I stopped by today to pick up a couple of cables and I asked about B&O. The salesman didn't know much about it but knew they had been in discussions for a long time, going one way or the other. He thought it might be just some of the personal audio products. I thought it would

  • BeoSystem 4 - Synchronous or Asynchronous Clock?

My sadness over there not being a 4K BeoSystem 5 may be over! I have just purchased a new OLED TV and I am looking into getting either the Oppo UDP-203 or the UDP-205. I can plug my Apple TV into the Oppo Player's HDMI-In for upscaling, thus needing the BeoSystem 4 only for audio. One of the features of the Oppo UDP-205 is HDMI Audio Jitter Reduction. A portion of the description reads: For compressed bit stream audio, it helps to ensure error-free transmission, and may improve the audio performance
