Hi guys,

I have a problem that I was hoping you could help me with. I bought a BV Horizon 48 and it was installed yesterday. My intention with the TV was to use it both in my living room (I live in a small flat) and my bedroom since either way I almost never watch TV.

So what I wanted to be able to do with my purchase (and thought I could) is the following:

1) To watch the TV in my living room connected to my BL18s and 19 via my Beosound Moment - but then listen to music (most of the time) via my Beosound Moment without having anything to do with the TV.

2) To watch the TV in my bedroom and maybe connect it to my BeoPlay A9

My problem is the following:

It seems that I cannot connect the TV to my speakers in the living room without making the TV the "master", i.e. meaning that every time I want to listen to music via Beosound Moment the TV would need to be on/would turn on. This is no acceptable for me since I hardly never watch TV but listen to music every day. I was even thinking of not having the TV plugged into the mains all the time if it's not being used.

So my question is: Is there any way around this? The technicians that installed the TV said the above was the only possibility - so I'm hoping you guys know better! Is it really so that in order to share speakers with my Moment and Horizon I have to make the TV a master and the moment a slave? I hardly believe that all the time when people that have a B&O TV and a Moment in their living room that they have to turn on the TV/have the TV turned on in order to be able to listen to music - is that really the case?

And then finally is there any way to send the sound from the Horizon to my Beoplay A9? The tech. guys could not do it yesterday.

That’s the only way as far as I know.

I have that setup but with BV11 and have no problems with it.

I just press e.g Music on BeoRemote One and TV and Moment wake up. Tv screen dims after a short while.

Think A9 need to be MKII to have Multiroom capability, but not sure

Hello,

I've both a Moment and a Horizon so I'm just picturing if I could manage to setup my gear as to your requests.

First of all I make the following assumptions:

- Your gear is all connected to the same network, either WiFI or Lan (if on WiFi your network needs to be good off course)

- You have a Multiroom enabled A9 (MKII)

- You use the app and the remote

You can set-up as you wish. The Horizon acts as a source on your Multiroom set-up and you should be able to send the sound of the TV (programs, movies, radio, apps etc.) to either the Moment and the A9. Easiest way is selecting the TV as main source in the app and then join your Moment / A9 simultaneous or only one as you wish. On the tablet of the. Moment you see a Link button next to the playlist/radio screen. If you select the link tab you will see your Horizon and your A9. Selecting one of the sources joins the Moment into whatever that product is playing.

The other way arround is also possible, you play music from your Moment / A9 and join in the TV.

This should be a very simple integration and I cannot imagine that your technician was not able to install this to be honest. Maybe your need is somewhat else?

Regarding the Tv as a master, I would advise you to try that also: the Moment has a way much better sound engine and your BL18/19 can produce even better sounds through the TV. Apart form many sound settings including bass management you can also make speaker role groups for TV watching, Movies and different music types. The only small inconvenience might be that your tv first needs to boot-up. Fast boot-up can be managed by setting up a quick start time frame (if wanted please say so, there is a special setup menu within the Horizon for this) and you can set the tv up in such way that the screen go's black after a few minutes. Because you are possible to connect your speakers through WISA to the TV you can have maximum flexibility to put the tv into your living room and bedroom as you wish (with wheelstand I assume). The Moment works very well with speakers connected through the TV so that should not be a problem. I have my Moment in another setup now and connected BL3's, but I miss a lot of performance from the speakers just because the sound engine of the Moment is very limited. My preference is to use the speakers connected through the TV.

To conclude, your requested set-up should be no problem and you can improve the overall performance of your music listening a lot by using the TV as speaker master. Your TV is only a very clever hub and the only con for slightly longer boot-up (maybe 10 second longer) generates a lot of pro's on the actual sound performance of your speakers.

Please let me know if your request still differs from my assumptions / directions.

The problem that NVGAE has is, that he does not want to have the tv turn on, when listening to music - he even wrote that he wanted to unplug it, when not watching tv.

Hard to find a solution then ;-(

Furthermore - when linking the sound from the tv/tuner to the A9 (assumed it is a 2nd gen) or the Moment with connected speakers there would be a delay in the transmission.

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV.

I just tried to give him a reason to rethink his needs. Regarding the possible delay, there is the possibility to set the sound delay, not sure if this works with tv programs though.

When they did the set-up we were not able to make the horizon appear as a source on the BSM. Are you sour that is possible? Anyways there some problems with the BSM so they took it with them and announced me today that I would get a new one (that will be the 3rd one I get).

My ideal set-up would be to have the BSM as a master and then join the BV Horizon on the link page or through the app when I want to use the BL18s and 19 when I'm watching films. The technicians did not mention that possibility - although I clearly expressed how unhappy I was with having to have the TV as a master. Anyone of you currently using this set-up?

But if I can do this set-up - why would the TV have to be plugged in the mains all the time Millemissen? Am I misunderstanding something?

Hi NVGAE,

I have a simulair setup with:

beovision horizon

beosound moment

beoplay m5

beolab 18

If I understand your wish correctly this is perfectly possible.

- Living room : beosound moment and your beolab speakers - connect moment to lan or wifi

- TV flexibel, no speakers attach

- A9 flexible

In the app on the tab multiroom you add all devices. You can now choose which device is the master and you can add ' speakers/product to it) So if you choose tv as device you can add the moment and the tv sound is through the speakers connected on the moment. You can setup sound delay in both the moment and the horizon. If you add the A9 when you are in the bedroom the a9 plays the sound.

I did it the other way around. I connect my beolab 18 to the tv (use the lot of possibilities of the sound engine of the tv and different speaker groups (TV, music etc).

I can pick up on the tv for example the radio or deezer from the moment or the m5 and it works well. So good that I sold the beosound moment because I could do everything I want with the m5. Only downfall with the m5 if I want t play deezer in my living room I cannot play another source on the m5 but that is no problem for me.

So if this is what you want I cannot understand that a technician could no do it because I bought a horizon last week and figured this out in a few hours?

Good luck

Regards

Edwin

Does a Horizon really appear as a source on Moment on the link tab of the Moment when Horizon is playing? Can anyone confirm?

Somehow I cannot upload a photo but I can confirm the Horizon to show up as link source. Joining a TV program does not produce sound out of sync.

I just don't understand why this isn't working for me. I'll try again when I get the new BSM. Currently the Horizon is connected to the Beolab's. Should I just then remove the speakers from the TV set-up (is that complicated)? Set up the speakers for the Moment and hope the TV will appear on the link page?

I must say I've had horrible experience with my set-up. Noting works. Never. This is now the 3rd moment I'll be getting (over the course of 2 years) because my previous ones just drove me mad with all sorts of problems.

The tech guys mentioned that maybe it could be my router, but I replaced my old router as well 9 months ago (thinking that maybe the router was the problem) and bought ASUS RT-AC5400, Tri-band Gigabit Router. So unless I need to preset the router somehow to work with all the B&O set-up, I don't think my router or internet connection is the problem.

What basically happens is that like with the Horizon not appearing on the link page, my Beoplay A9 sometimes disappears or I cannot connect to it in the Bang Olufsen App. BSM plays no music randomly and if I manage everything to work,  if I'm lets say playing music on the BSM and join the Beoplay A9, then the Beoplay A9 would drop the connection after like an hour or two. This has been going on like this for over two years - and is absolutely driving me nuts to say the least.

Yesterday I was trying to play music on my Beoplay A9 but for some reason I could not. It always connected to the TV (and music came from the TV and no music from the A9), then I removed the link to the Beoplay A9 on the TV but still nothing... Any idea what I need to do?

So basically I've spent thousands of euros on products that never work. My dealer seriously thought I was crazy because I was always complaining. Then the tech guys came to set up the TV and instead of staying just a couple of hours it took them 7 hours (because also for them nothing worked)!! and in the end they took the BSM with them back - because also then NOTHING worked like it should. I think I'm cursed.

I can imagine that you are getting crazy with all this! I’m not a IT specialist but I’ll share my thoughts with you, for what it is worth.

Now the Moment is currently out of your system, just try if you can use the A9 / Horizon as you would like for playing music (forget your wish for not using the tv for a few days). Try to setup the TV and the A9 so that they both appear in the app. This should be no problem. If that is not working fine, your network is the main suspect.

If everything works well but after a few hours the A9 switches off then look for a auto power off setting within the A9 setup app.

If you have a stabile system now and after installing the Moment problems start again, you know it is the Moment. First look if DHCP is switched off. Also make sure to use LAN wires first, so you can exclude the WiFI as the trouble maker.

Regarding the speakers connected to the tv, after removing the plugs make sure you also delete the speakers in the setup menu of the tv.

Best of luck and I’m sure your not haunted, only your leg is being pulled by bits and bitesBig Smile
