    Beosystem 2300

I just purchased a Beosystem 2300 for $499. Canadian. Is this a reasonable price for it? Is this model considered Vintage and what is the going price for it?...Thanks anyone

    Re: Beosystem 2300

    Welcome to Beoworld!

Here in the UK that would be a good price for a working example without speakers in  a Private Sale. If it had the active speakers with it you got a bargain!

    Re: Beosystem 2300

    Simon,

Yes I did get the speakers with it (Red Ones). So what would be a reasonable price

    for  it in the UK?

    Thanks for responding...Andro

    Re: Beosystem 2300

In fact the 2300 usually makes slightly more than the 2500 so you got a bargain.

    Re: Beosystem 2300

An interesting question would be whether your 2300 supports two-way IR. Does it have a shiny black infrared window under the ledge on the lower-left side?

    Re: Beosystem 2300

I haven't got the System just yet. I purchased it from a local Pawn shop. We've tested all the functionality and they all are working.

I have put a deposit on it and will be picking it up at the end of the month. It does come with a remote control. Is that why you're asking?

    Re: Beosystem 2300

Some models have two-way infrared, which means they can support more sophisticated remote controls (5000 and 7000). Check for the IR window mentioned above -- it's just a nicety, not an essential part of the system.

    Re: Beosystem 2300

Thanks for the information. I believe that the remote that comes with the system is a 5000. But I guess I'll find that out for sure when I get it.. Thanks again

    Re: Beosystem 2300

In that case, it's almost positively a two-way system. See if the BeoLink 5000 remote has an intact LCD display, with no missing lines of pixels...

    Re: Beosystem 2300

That's an utter bargain!!! If it's all in good nick that would probably all go for around 800 pounds - i'll bet you're hoping it isn't 'hot'?

    Re: Beosystem 2300

I'm, pretty sure it's not hot because this place I go to, If you are pawning anything they check that the S/N is intact. You

also have to show ID and sign like a release form. I think it's just that they really have no idea what they have. In my case, ever since

I saw a B&O for the first time, I've always dreamed of having one. The unit is in great shape, just a few dust...We plugged it in and and everything seems to be in working order. "I'm walking on Air". Not so much that everyone thinks I got a good deal on it, but just to finally have one...

Thanks for your encouraging comment though...Much appreciated

The BL2500's are good sounding loudspeakers if placed correctly, they can really kick out the sound!

What would you consider correct placement of speakers?

    Re: Beosystem 2300

    Attachment: dolby1.jpg

Personally, i enjoyed them 'toed in'. The soundstage seemed to snap into focus. I had them either side of the computer screen.

Another good place for them (to my ears) was on a bench right up against the wall with them separated by a couple of metres...

You would be amazed at how important speaker placement can be is when it comes to what reaches your ears. The surfaces in the room, the height of the ceiling, the shape and size of the space, the list goes on!

A common placement of stereo speakers is the equilateral triangle which you can see an even distance between the listening position, and the two speakers in the diagram below. When the speakers are placed this way the sound stage is coherent where such details as the vocals appear to hover in the middle of the room in front of you where they are meant to be... i'm terrible at explaining i'm so sorry. This link may help you a little more!

    Re: Beosystem 2300

By the way, Thanks Dave for the detailed layout for the speakers. This might actually work out for me.....

I just picked up my Beosystem 2300 (Type 2618) with Beolab 2500 (Type 6203) set of speakers (Red Grill), It also came with a BE04 remote control.

I got everything for $499. from a Pawn shop. The condition is mint not a scratch on it. The previous owner must have really taken care of it.The Sound is quality is amazing and I was really surprised that I was able to play copied CD's on it. I didn't think that system's manufactured before 2000 was capable of that. Good surprise though. Even the remote is in excellent condition, the LCD display shows nice and clear. It's as if this system was never used...I tell you.... I'm one happy guy...Thanks for Beoworld. I have learned many things about Band & Olufsen products. Before I just used to lust after the advertisement, but never though I would have one. Next to having children, I would call this my second greatest achievement in my life......

    Re: Beosystem 2300

Does anyone know how I could build on my existing 2300..other componets/accessories (Bang & Olufsen line of products)? I know I can get the wall shelf for it, but price and aesthetics doesn't really work for me. I've got a stainless steel table that I put the system on and it looks really good..any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....Thanks

    Re: Beosystem 2300

    Congrats to you!

    Just some thoughts:

     - get a simple cable to connect your PC or mac or ipod

    - get a beoport+IR Eye to connect your pc or mac and control it via your Beo 4

    - get a beogram (with RIAA) and play your record through the system

    - ....

    Re: Beosystem 2300

Given the window, it's probably (although not certain) that your 2300 can support two-way remotes such as the BeoLink 5000 and 7000. You may be able to see the IR LEDs illuminate briefly after a CD track change or other such event. There were a few made with windows with nothing behind them, and a few more with all the requisite hardware but a newer version of the software which dropped support for the feature.

    Re: Beosystem 2300

How will I know for sure if this window has something behind it and if it supports two way remotes, how or where can I get the software to enable the support for it?
