Beomaster 4000 plus Cd player query

Can anyone tell me exactly what I need to do to play a modern CD deck through a Beomaster 4000 tuner/amp (presumably via 'Tape 1 or Tape 2 din inputs) - is a preamp required, and if so what is recommended? Thanks.

Hi and welcome to Beoworld !

You only need an adapter cable going from whatever plug your CD deck has (presumably 2x RCA) to a 5-pin DIN. YOu can connect to any of the two tape inputs as you please. Your local dealer will have an adapter or you can find one at Ebay.

Thanks for the speedy response. How about an ipod or personal stereo as the input (i.e. via single 3.5 phono connection)  -- can they plug in directly in the same way?

Yes, the Beomaster will accept anything at line level.

An iPod will certainly work. The problem might be that you'll need to raise the volume higher than with other inputs as the iPods output isn't exactly line level even at full volume (remeber to turn the volume limiter to max in the settings of the iPod). I am now listening to a track from YouTube thrue my MacBook and Beomaster 901 - (MacBook: volume at max - BM: volume at 4/12).

Track tip: search the forum for the B&O stereo cha-cha-cha and download it! That will be fun listening with any B&O! :)

RE: iPod volume, it depends on the model and where you bought it. Some of the iPods (the latest ones) are certainly quieter than line level at full volume, whereas the previous generation of iPods were much higher than line level at full volume...

Tip: the output of the Apple Universal Dock is not affected by the EU volume cap, so i you connect your headphones or hifi to the dock you'll get higher level output than from the socket of the iPod itself.

I wasn't aware of that! Unfortunately, carrying an iPod Dock with you on the bus isn't the most discreet solution Stick out tongue

I *think* (but I'm NOT sure!) that this also applies to the Apple iPod Radio Remote. Speaking of the remote, i really really wish they'd make an iPhone compatible version of it.
