What does "discontinued" mean to current owners?

What should a current owner of any model feel like when they hear that a model they own has been discontinued, especially with such an iconic piece as the great Beosound 9000?

Of course you will feel disappointed, when your item is discontinued, but look at the bright side, the value of your possession just jumped upwards in price and one day you can enter in vintage and get advise how to keep it going.

I agree with Soren here - but that demand, and jump in price, always seems to be temporary.  After that, when everyone has bought one who wanted one, the values continue to slide away.

It's only many years later do the prices start to climb - but if you're buying for long term investment, buy whatever is/was top of the range at the time.  It's the cream of the crop which gets remembered and collected more than the low/mid range models on the whole..

I always get sucked into the latest and greatest, however it's the older pieces people really appreciate.  It takes years before people recognize new designs.

Don't worry that your product has been discontinued.  I have a range of discontinued B&O products and they are all the envy of my friends and colleagues.  The beauty of having older or vintage equipment that there are good companies out there who will service and repair them.  Sit back and enjoy!!
